Welcome to Class 4!

Teacher: Mrs Chloe Davis

Class 4 ...

YOU ARE AMAZING!

Well done for all your home learning during this weird time - you've been incredible. Have a lovely, restful, exciting, adventurous, thoroughly enjoyable summer holiday and I will see you all in September!

We may have taken Turn-Up Ted for ourselves this week ... ! As a class, we have been AMAZING!

For Sports Relief, we thought about what it would be like playing sport with a disability and had a go at 'Goalball' & football using a bell-ball and wearing blindfolds. It was really tricky and gave us a new appreciation for what disabled athletes and members of our society have to face.

We had an impromptu music concert this afternoon with Josie, Emilia & Mia on the piano and Jasmine on the guitar. We were all very impressed!

We looked at the River Styx and the Underworld in Drama today, with Class 5 as our audience!

Our World Book Day drama involved creating a story about a mythical beast we assembled through a quick game!

World Book Day 2020!

We started our drama sessions with a Myths & Legends Game Show, thinking about what might be remembered about our time in the future ...

Our last week of gymnastics was a chance to show off our new skills and try something different too!

In Science, we used our knowledge of sound to make our own instruments, thinking about changing pitch and volume. These are our creations!

Creative interpretations of our 'monster den' homework from Natalia & Josie!

This week was all about balance - on a beam, on our hands and on our head!

We had a go at building up some routines today - our balance is getting better too!

Our last dance session had a very Christmassy feel!

Despite the rain, we all enjoyed the scooter workshop today!

We're getting pretty good at this dancing!

We enjoyed a festive afternoon of singing at Sandford Station!

Another week, another dance, another musical - Hairspray this time!

Visit of the Hopkins' carnival float!

This week we danced & acted to a song from Matilda - we were very revolting children!

Our dance focus this week was Lion King and making shadows with our movement and postures!

We are really lucky this term to have Aaron come in and teach us different dances each week. Our first one was a very fast number to a song from the musical Wicked. Have a look at how we got on!

We have been learning about Buddhism and looked at Buddhist myths. We each took an aspect of the Eightfold Path and made our own myths that showed how we should follow it. We made them into our first published book as a class - please come and have a read!

Lotus flower watercolours, inspired by the Shang Dynasty.

Visit to see the Knitted Bible at St. James' Church!

First attempt at yoga - think we were pretty good at it!

Endangered Animals - our focus for Suspended Curriculum

Bird feeder making, with lots of sticky seed rolling!

Welcome back for a new year and, for some of you, a new class! We are going to be so busy this year looking at a range of different topics and areas of learning. Our topic for the first terms is the Shang Dynasty, which wasn't chosen just because of the dragons ... smiley

Our focus for the Suspended Curriculum weeks is Endangered Animals and I have been so impressed with the knowledge the children already have and the interest & passion they have shown. Have a look at the classroom windows for the simile poems we created and watch this space for a very artistic display on the other side of our classroom!

I am sure that everyone will step up to the challenge of being in Class 4, whether Year 4 or Year 5, and I am really looking forward to seeing what we achieve together. Keep checking out our Class Page to see some of our amazing work!
