Sandford Primary recently attended the NSSPEA Small Schools Swimming Gala at Hutton Moor and, yet again, they certainly did themselves and the school as a whole proud. Up against some exceptionally talented opposition, the swim team racked up numerous gold, silver and bronze places all to the delight of the supporters.
An excellent breastroke swim saw Corin Welsh win gold, with the fastest time in the county. As well as Corin, Evie Vowles won gold in the backstroke and a fantastic swim by the 4 x 1 Freestyle relay team of Yasmin, Talia, Oliver and Charlie picked up another gold medal. Incredibly disciplined swimming by Oliver Tomlinson and Chloe Mead saw them pick up silver and bronze respectively in the breastroke and Will Hathway swam exceptionally, just missing out on a bronze medal by 0.01s! Thanks to the incredible effort by all the swimmers, Sandford achieved a Silver Place finish across the Small Schools Relay. A huge congratulations on this magnificent achievement.
A special thank you to all the parents and relatives who came along to support and to Phil Tomlinson for his support poolside.
